Dr. Memon, Dr. Griffin and Dr. Lee collaborate to study Bile Acid Metabolism in Neonates

Infants born prematurely often receive parenteral nutrition (PN), a life-saving source of nutrition delivered intravenously.  However, data has shown that infants fed PN long-term may be predisposed to parenteral nutrition-associated liver disease (PNALD); in part, due to alterations in bile acid metabolism.  These studies are ongoing, and are aimed at better understanding the connection between PN and liver disease, as well as overall bile acid metabolism in neonates.  Read the full article, here.
